UNITY: Together, we represent the teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals of our district. We have strength in numbers and, as a united front, we have supported each other as we strive to give our students the best education possible.

$1 MILLION LIABILITY INSURANCE: Members receive protection against lawsuits filed by individuals.
ATTORNEY REPRESENTATION: Members receive assistance if you have a workplace dispute at no additional cost.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Through the MTA and the NEA, we receive opportunities for PD and support in the relicensing process as we strive to best support our students.

STRONG REPRESENTATION: In recent years, we have been very successful in supporting members and protecting our contract. We have been successful in over 90% of our grievances.
CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS: We continue to work with the District and the School Committee to negotiate a new contract for our teachers that is both student-centered and reflective of twenty-first century teaching.
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS: We continue to work to provide student scholarships to our member’s children for higher education.
MEMBERSHIP INVOLVEMENT AND ACTIVISM: Together, we have worked to fend off the charter school threat in the NO ON 2 campaign, influenced changes in high-stakes testing. We are working on FMLA and minimum wage reform.
GOALS FOR OUR FUTURE SUCCESS
SUPPORT WAKEFIELD’S VALUES: Wakefield values and supports our schools and teachers as much as we do! We will continue to create opportunities to partner with parents, businesses, and our School Committee to advocate for strong schools.
CONTINUE THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE TEACHING PROFESSION: We will continue to work with our School Committee to improve the outlook on teaching and to help advance state and nationwide education issues.
BUILD STRONGER BONDS: We will work to develop an even closer membership connection so that each and every one of our members feels that they are connected to a strong, informed, influential and effective union.
