The WEA represents the professional employees of the Wakefield Public Schools, including teachers, librarians, counselors, speech and language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, specialists, psychologists, nurses, coaches, coordinators, paraprofessionals, directors, and administrators. The WEA Executive Board and the WEA by-laws govern the WEA. The Executive Board consists of elected officers and building representatives. The election for officers happens in June. All members of the WEA are eligible to serve in these positions. Executive Board The Executive Board consists of elected officers: President, VP of Negotiations, VP of Grievances, the Membership Chair, the Treasurer, and the Secretary. This body is responsible for the governance of the Association. Building Representatives WEA Building Representatives are an integral part of the Wakefield Education Association. Building Representatives act as a liaison between members, school administration, and WEA leadership. Building Representatives work with the members of each school on contractual issues and WEA initiatives. Strong building representatives have excellent communication skills and are familiar with the contract.
